long time no see...

first update in a long time. we are having pretty terrible summer here as far as sailing goes..  I have not sailed for some two weeks now and this is not the first two weeks with no wind in last few months... oh well... I can't wait for the fall storms to roll in...

 Here is the picture from April 29th, one of the best sailing days I had this year. The picture is from Nahant, wind was pretty good, fairly warm for that time of the year... I wish we had more days like this one. You probably can not tell from the picture but some of the sets were well over head high...

Spring is here or what?

What a day... Finally it is warm, I still used gloves but that was not necessary I guess.. 

I sailed Kalmus, 3 hours on 3.5 and freestyle 100. I went on the water around 11 and came back at 2. The wind felt quite steady, definitely not bad.. If only we had more days like this one...

Finally some sailing...

  Got back to Boston from spending a week in Miami. It was windy there almost every day in 4.7-5.3 range. I wish I had my gear with me. As you can imagine I was eager to sail when I've gotten back... Once our plane landed, the crew told us it was 32 degrees outside... 

 

 Fortunately it was a bit warmer on the Cape. I chose to go to a spot in Lewis bay, because the wind was supposed to switch NW. I chose to sail 5.0 even though I could have probably used 4.5 but I didn't want to chance it.

No Sailing lately. It looks like something might happen over the weekend if we are lucky.

My friend's car, caught fire last night under my window.  He was about to leave but the car would not start. We tried to jump start it but it didn't work.  We were debating what we should do next, when car's alarm started to go off... It was good 10 minutes before fire department showed up. Exciting stuff... jump start anyone?

pleasant surprise. end of january and it is warm and windy. i drove to the cape this morning to get some sailing in before my day class. i sailed for 2 hours or so, first on 5.0 and then 4.0 btw that was the first time i have used my new 4.0 freak. how sweet is that?! probably my favorite sail at the moment. 

perfect conditions for shakas.. i think i'm getting better at them. i'll publish some insights i've figured out, as soon as i'll get my consistency up some more...

definitely a 4 star day, considering it is january. my own performance - usual 8 out of 5 stars

... exactly why are we doing this?

this is what i asked myself on sunday while Chris was breaking the ice at ninigret. literally. what looked like sleet from the beach turned out to be rather hard icy thingi that one could not just walk through. few times i expected him to turn around.. well. once he was out and planing i had no choice but to go and rig up ... i wish i had my camera with me...

we sailed for about 2 hours. chris on 5.2 me on 5.0, it was not nearly as cold as it looked. so i'm pretty happy i've got out. this was 2nd time this year for me. first time was on jan 8th? i think. it was much warmer and much windier too. 

one funny thing i noticed: when i don't sail for 2 weeks or so, it becomes much easier for me to keep going without sailing... any ideas on why is that?

What's up for 2008

... not much yet. Me and Chris almost sailed on the new years day, almost. Spend some time waiting for the wind to come up in boston. Well, it was the only place that was not windy... Ninigret was gusting to 49, Cape was in mid 20's, it was windy north of boston... sometimes you just can not win...

 

 Anyway, here is the picture from the Christmas Eve. Me and Chris sailed at Ninigret for about 3 hours. It was quite cold, especially considering that I just got back from Miami few hours earlier...
